Synopsis:

Antaheen is the story of Abhik (Rahul Bose) a promising police officer and Brinda (Radhika Apte) the livewire reporter of a news channel, who can relate to each oher through the internet, but cannot conjure up the same relationship when they meet. Its also the story of Moni Pishi, Abhik's single aunt, who chose her life but who once had a similar relationship with a man with whom she communicated over the telephone but never met. Its the story of a couple, Ranjan (Kalyan Roy) and Paromita (Aparna Sen), both wonderful people who desperately want each other but have drifted apart because of their own mental reservations. It is the story of Mr. & Mrs Mehra (shouvik Kundogrami & Mita Vashisht), who have all the power and everything money can buy and yet are desperately unhappy.

Antaheen shows us these and other facets of Kolkata through a series of intertwined vignettes, They are all connected and yet they are separate stories. In doing so it presents a collage of the life of upper middle-class Bengali Society of Kolkata.

Key characters in the film are Soumitra Chatterjee, Biplab Chatterjee, Monu Mukherjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Ramaprasad Banik, Joy Sengupta, Master Sourav Banerjee etc. Every actor and actress has performed their best. Master Sourav Banerjee's acting especially bags appreciation. Monu Mukherjee gives us a dramatic relief. The dolby digital sound effect of this film is really praise worthy. Music direction of Dibyojyoti Mishra is excellent. 150 years ago a peculiar machine was invented by the scientist Aghor Sen, the protagonist of the film is the main theme. By this machine any one can make anybody sleep for hundreds of years. Everybody wants to have the unique machine by any means. Who will get that machine, that is the suspence.

Antar Mahal ( is a 2005 Bengali cinema directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Jackie Shroff plays the zamindar. Other lead roles include Rupa Ganguly and Soha Ali Khan. Abhishek Bachchan plays a supporting role in this Bengali film.

Plot

The story takes place towards the end of the 19th century in Bengal. Bhubaneswar Chowdhury Jackie Shroff is a rich and oppressive Zamindar(Landlord). He is planning to please the British so that they bestow on him the Raibahadur title. There are quite a few contenders and so something unique has to be done. On the other hand he also wants an heir and since he blames the failure on wife Mahamaya Rupa Ganguly he marries again, the much younger Jashomatian Soha Ali Khan. Both the wives compete against each other in an ego struggle. Younger wife Jashomati in her traumatised and lonely state gets drawn towards young sculptor played by Abhishek Bachchan
